Casper and the Spectrals is a cool three-part comic book series. It was made by Ardden Entertainment to celebrate 60 years of Casper the Friendly Ghost! This series gives Casper and his friends a fresh, modern look. They live in a world that feels a bit more real and exciting. The story follows Casper as he teams up with Wendy the Good Little Witch and Hot Stuff the Little Devil. Together, they must stop a huge, scary monster! These comics came out between October 2009 and September 2010.

The Story of Casper and His Friends
Casper's Ghostly Lessons
In New York City, Casper and his cousin Spooky were learning from their uncles. These uncles are known as the Ghostly Trio: Fusso, Lazo, and Fatso. They showed the boys how to scare a family on the subway. Casper didn't really understand why they had to scare people.
At a school in Spookytown, the Trio explained something important. They said they needed to keep the "scares" strong in Ghostburg. This was to keep a huge monster named Volbragg locked away. Casper thought Volbragg was just a made-up story.
Who is Volbragg?
The Ghostly Trio then told Casper and Spooky about Volbragg's past. Willem George Volbragg was a power-hungry politician in the 1600s. He wanted to rule New Amsterdam and scare everyone. But the townspeople fought back and sank him in the river.
Volbragg ended up in Spookytown. He decided to take over there instead. A witch used magic to collect all the "scares" in Spookytown. These scares turned into energy, making Volbragg bigger and stronger. He wanted to destroy anyone who wasn't scary enough. The smarter ghosts and witches captured Volbragg. They used the scare energy to keep him trapped in a prison.
Casper Meets Wendy
Casper flew around Spookytown, wondering if there was a better way to keep Volbragg contained. He saw different groups in Spookytown. He found some witches scaring people. A young witch girl, Wendy, stepped in. She didn't like her aunts scaring others just for fun.
Wendy made all the humans disappear, except for one boy. Casper accidentally scared that boy away, sending him home. This led Casper to meet Wendy, who thanked him for helping the boy. Casper and Wendy became friends. They spent time together, learning about each other.
Casper and Wendy Meet Hot Stuff
One day, in Deviland, Casper and Wendy met a mischievous young devil named Hot Stuff. Hot Stuff played a trick on some ogres and blamed Casper and Wendy. The ogres caught them in a net, and their powers couldn't help them escape.
Hot Stuff decided to save them. He pretended to be a mud monster and demanded the ogres let his friends go. He then trapped the ogres in the net instead! After they escaped, Casper and Wendy asked Hot Stuff to join them. He agreed, even though he was a bit hesitant, because he understood feeling unwanted.
Casper and Wendy tried to teach Hot Stuff how to be nice. Hot Stuff, in turn, showed them his world of demons. The three friends then met a werewolf who threatened to eat Hot Stuff. Casper tried to scare the werewolf, but it just found him amusing.
Trouble and a Big Argument
The three friends escaped and went to their secret hideout. But they were caught and punished by their elders for hanging out together. They were told not to see each other again.
Meanwhile, scientists in the human world tried to learn about the other world. They wanted to collect its energy. But their machine went wrong! It took away energy and let loose ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. This weakened Volbragg's prison, waking him up. Volbragg went on a rampage, trying to take over all of Spookytown.
Casper, Wendy, and Hot Stuff reunited and saw the chaos. Many ghosts and ghouls were running from the huge monster. Casper thought Volbragg was just lonely and wanted to be accepted. But Wendy and Hot Stuff thought Casper had lost his mind. This led to a big argument between Casper and Wendy, ending their friendship. Hot Stuff was left alone.
Stopping Volbragg
Hot Stuff found the scientists, who told him what had happened. They tried to stop Volbragg but couldn't. Hot Stuff flew off to find Casper and Wendy. Meanwhile, Wendy found the witch who gave Volbragg his magic. The witch gave Wendy her old wand, which could take away Volbragg's magic.
Casper tried to reason with Volbragg, but Hot Stuff and Wendy interrupted him. Volbragg thought Casper was setting him up. The three friends went to the scientist's lab. It was revealed that Volbragg was getting his energy from electricity in the human world.
Casper wanted to use a special "dampening dust" from the professor to cover Volbragg. Wendy would use her wand to take away his power. But Volbragg was too strong for Casper. Then, Hot Stuff had an idea! He used balloons covered in white sheets with faces on them. He had used these for a prank on the ogres earlier. He used them to distract Volbragg, who started losing power. This gave Wendy a chance to use her wand.
It turned out Volbragg had powers from being part ghost, part witch, and part devil. Wendy had to say three special phrases, three times each, to take away his powers. Just as a huge brick was about to hit her, Hot Stuff pushed her out of the way. He saved her, but the brick hit him instead.
A Happy Ending
Everyone in Spookytown was sad about Hot Stuff's apparent death. But his parents revealed that the only way to bring him back was to put him in fire. He rose up from the fire, alive and well! Everyone cheered.
They all congratulated Casper, Wendy, and Hot Stuff for defeating Volbragg. Hot Stuff suggested a party to celebrate. It was the strong friendship of the three that helped them defeat Volbragg!

Main Characters
- Casper – A friendly ghost who doesn't like to scare people. He wants to be friends with everyone. He teams up with Wendy and Hot Stuff to defeat Volbragg.
