Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost is a fun fictional character from Harvey Comics. He first appeared in a comic book called Casper the Friendly Ghost #10 in June 1953. Spooky is Casper's cousin, but the comics never say exactly how they are related.

Spooky looks a lot like Casper. However, he has some special features. You can spot him by his freckles, a cool derby hat, and a big, black nose.

Who is Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost?

Spooky is known for his unique way of speaking. He talks with what sounds like a Brooklyn accent. For example, he calls his girlfriend, Pearl, "Poil." His famous derby hat is also called a "doiby" when he talks.

Spooky loves to scare people, just like The Ghostly Trio. He is also a bit of a tough guy. But he is not as mean to Casper as the Trio can be. Sometimes, Spooky might tease Casper for being so friendly. Still, Spooky often shows he has a good heart.

Spooky's Girlfriend Pearl

Spooky's girlfriend is a ghost named Pearl. She tries to stop him from scaring people. Pearl often tells him off, watches him closely, or even threatens to break up with him. She might even go on dates with other ghosts!

But Pearl always realizes that Spooky is the best. She finds faults with her new dates and always comes back to him. Spooky often tries to scare people in secret. He sometimes makes it look like someone else did the scaring to keep Pearl happy.

Spooky's Comic Book Adventures

After appearing in Casper the Friendly Ghost, Spooky got his own comic books. These included Spooky Spooktown (from 1961 to 1976) and Spooky Haunted House (from 1972 to 1975). He also starred in Tuff Ghosts Starring Spooky (from 1962 to 1972). The original Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost comic ran until issue #161 in September 1980.

Spooky in Movies and TV Shows

Spooky has appeared in many cartoons and movies. He was in four short films with Casper:

  • Hide & Shriek (1954)
  • Hooky Spooky (1957)
  • Which Is Witch (1958)
  • Doing What's Fright (1959)

He was also a character in The New Casper Cartoon Show. This animated TV series aired from 1963 to 1969.

In 1996, a new animated show called The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper started. Spooky was a regular character in this show. His voice was done by Rob Paulsen. Later, in the 2000 computer-animated movie Casper's Haunted Christmas, Samuel Vincent voiced Spooky.

More recently, Spooky appeared in an episode of Harvey Girls Forever!. This was a fourth season episode called "Scare Bud." Jordan Fry provided his voice for this appearance.
