The Catawissa Bottling Company makes tasty soft drinks in Catawissa, Pennsylvania. They also sell things like ice and cups for parties.
How It Started
The Catawissa Bottling Company began in 1926. Bruce Gregorowicz and his wife, Suzanne Wegronovich Gregorowicz, started it. They got a special license from Pennsylvania to bottle soda.
The couple bought an old creamery building in Catawissa. They changed it into a place where they could bottle drinks.
Fun Flavors Over the Years
When the company first started, they made many different soda flavors. Some of these included orange, lemon, and birch beer. They also made root beer, lime cloud, and cream soda.
Other early flavors were strawberry, ginger ale, and grape. They even had cherry, sarsaparilla, and white birch beer. Later, they added golden birch beer and blue birch beer.
Special Ingredients
The company uses real cane sugar in their own sodas. They do not use high fructose corn syrup. Their special sodas are sold under names like "Catawissa Sparkling Beverages" and "Big Ben's."
Making Moxie Soda
The Catawissa Bottling Company has a long history with Moxie soda. They first made Moxie under a special agreement from 1945 to 1967.
Then, in 1978, they started making Moxie again. They still produce Moxie soda today. They also sell cool Moxie items for collectors.
