Nave

The cathedral is built in a style called Gothic Revival. This style looks like old European churches. It is made from strong reinforced concrete. You can see many classic Gothic features on the building. These include tall, narrow windows called lancet windows. There are also pointed arches and decorative spires called pinnacles.

Inside, the cathedral has a main area called the nave. This area has seven strong columns on each side. These columns help hold up the pointed arches above. Along the two side aisles, there are 10 beautiful stained glass windows. These windows show 10 different stories, or parables, from the Bible. They were designed by Franz Xaver Zettler from Munich. The cathedral also has 25 special carvings made by Māori artists. These carvings represent the six main iwi (tribes) from the area.
