The Cazneaux Tree, also known as Cazneaux's Tree, is a very special and famous tree in South Australia. It's a type of tree called a river red gum (its scientific name is Eucalyptus camaldulensis). This tree became well-known because of a famous photographer named Harold Cazneaux. You can find it in the beautiful Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, close to Wilpena Pound. It's about 3 kilometers northeast of the Wilpena Pound Resort.

What Makes the Cazneaux Tree Special?

The Cazneaux Tree is listed as a significant tree by the National Trust of South Australia. It is number 239 on their special list of important trees. The Trust recognized it for its "outstanding aesthetic beauty." This means the tree is incredibly beautiful to look at.

In 1937, Harold Cazneaux took a picture of this tree. He called his photograph The Spirit of Endurance. This photo became very famous around the world. It helped Cazneaux become known internationally.
