Cecilia Edith Rotenberg Gutkin, known as Cecilia Roth, is a famous actress from Argentina. She was born on August 8, 1956. She has won many important awards for her acting, including two Goya Awards and a European Film Award. People often know her for working with the famous director Pedro Almodóvar. She was also a big inspiration for the musician Fito Páez in the 1990s.
Life and Career
Early Life and Family
Cecilia Roth's father, Abrasha Rotenberg, came from Ukraine in the 1930s. He was a writer and journalist in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her mother, Dina Gutkin, was a singer known as Dina Rot. Cecilia's brother, Ariel Rot, is a musician who was part of the band Los Rodríguez. He lives in Spain.
Starting Her Acting Journey
Cecilia began acting in Argentina. In 1976, she moved to Spain because of the difficult political situation in her home country. She quickly became very successful in Spanish movies. Some of her early films include Las verdes praderas and Arrebato. She also started working with director Pedro Almodóvar on films like Laberinto de pasiones.
Working with Famous Directors
Cecilia Roth has starred in many well-known films. She worked with Adolfo Aristarain on Un lugar en el mundo and Martín (hache). She also continued her work with Pedro Almodóvar. One of her most famous roles was in Almodóvar's film Todo sobre mi madre. This movie helped Almodóvar win his first Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. She also appeared in his film Pain and Glory.

Cecilia Roth was first married to Gonzalo Gil. Later, she married the Argentine singer-songwriter Fito Páez. They adopted a child named Martín. The musician Joaquín Sabina even wrote a song called "Cecilia" for Roth and Páez.
