Cecilville is a small community in Siskiyou County, California, United States. It is not officially part of a city or town, which means it's an "unincorporated community." The local Karuk people call this place íshirak.
Cecilville is located by the south fork of the Salmon River. It was founded a long time ago during the Gold Rush. This was a time when many people came to California hoping to find gold. The community got its name from a gold prospector, who was someone looking for gold.
Long ago, Cecilville was part of a different county called Klamath County. But that county no longer exists. When it was dissolved, Cecilville became part of Siskiyou County.
