Where Does Cedar Creek Start?
Cedar Creek begins about one mile southeast of the town of Linn. You can find its starting point near US Route 50, right next to the Thurman L. Willett fieldhouse.
The Journey of Cedar Creek
From its start, the stream flows towards the east. It then goes under Route 50, just west of a place called Potts. After that, it turns north and then northwest, passing under Missouri Route 100 south of Luystown.
The creek then winds its way (or "meanders") to the west. It flows south of the town of Frankenstein before finally joining up with Loose Creek.
Cedar Creek's Elevation
The very beginning of Cedar Creek is at an elevation of 940 feet above sea level. Where it meets Loose Creek, the elevation is much lower, at 545 feet. This drop in elevation helps the water flow.
Why is it Called Cedar Creek?
Cedar Creek got its name because of the many cedar trees that grow close to its banks. These trees are a common sight in the area.
