Cedar Hill is a small place in San Juan County, New Mexico, United States. It is called an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own city government. It's also a "census-designated place," which means the government counts its population separately.
In 2010, about 847 people lived here. By 2020, the population grew to 1,130. Cedar Hill is located on U.S. Route 550, which is a major road. It's also very close to the border with Colorado.
The area was first known as Cox's Crossing. The name "Cedar Hill" was chosen in a fun way. People at a Literacy Society meeting picked names out of a hat! A post office served the community for many years, from 1892 until 1966.
