Cedron, Missouri facts for kids
Cedron is a small, quiet place in northern Moniteau County, Missouri. It's what we call an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially a town or city with its own local government. Cedron is located on a ridge, which is like a high piece of land, above a stream called Schaaf Creek. It's about 2.5 miles southeast of a town called Prairie Home. Today, this area is part of the Prairie Home Conservation Area, a place where nature is protected.
History
Cedron once had its own post office. This post office opened in 1896, which was a long time ago! It helped people send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office didn't stay open for very long. It closed its doors in 1907. The name "Cedron" comes from a place far away called the Kidron Valley. This valley is located in West Asia and is mentioned in history books.
