Celia Rees (born 17 June 1949) is a British author known for her exciting books. She writes stories mainly for young adults, often blending history with adventure.

Celia was born in Solihull, a town in the West Midlands of England. She went to Tudor Grange Grammar School for Girls. Later, she studied History and Politics at Warwick University. She also earned a master's degree in Education from Birmingham University.

After finishing her studies, Celia became a teacher. She taught English in schools in Coventry for sixteen years. During this time, she started writing. Her goal was to create books that teenagers would truly want to read. She wanted her stories to feel grown-up in style and content.

Celia left teaching in 1989. She worked part-time in adult education and as a lecturer for Warwick University. By 1997, she became a full-time writer. She is a member of the Society of Authors and has led the Children's Writers and Illustrators Group.

Today, Celia lives with her husband, Terence Rees, in Leamington Spa. Her daughter, Catrin, works as a lawyer in London.

Her book Witch Child (2000) was very popular. It was nominated for the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize in 2001. It also won the Prix Sorcières in France in 2003. The sequel, Sorceress (2002), was nominated for the Whitbread (now Costa) Children's Book Award.

Another well-known historical novel is Pirates! (2003). This book was nominated for the W.H. Smith Children's Book Award. Later, she wrote Sovay in 2008 and The Fool’s Girl in 2010.
