The Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture (CADVC) is a special art center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). It first opened in 1989 as the Fine Art Gallery. This center is the main place on campus where students, teachers, and the public can explore art and visual culture. It helps everyone understand different artistic ideas and cultural topics.

The CADVC is a non-profit organization. This means it uses its money to support its mission, not to make a profit. It also publishes books and other materials about the arts.

What You Can Experience at CADVC

The CADVC offers many exciting programs. One program sends art exhibitions to other places. These shows feature amazing art from famous museums. Some of these include the Andy Warhol Museum and the New Museum of Contemporary Art.

Educational Programs

The center also has a program that publishes books and other materials about art. It runs an educational outreach program for kids in grades K-12. This program works with schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. There is also a special learning program for the UMBC campus.

The UMBC Sculpture Park

The CADVC also takes care of the Joseph Beuys Sculpture Park. This park is located right on the UMBC campus. It features interesting sculptures for everyone to enjoy.

Exploring the Gallery Space

The main gallery at CADVC is quite large. It has 4,200 square feet of space. You can find it inside the Fine Arts Building on the UMBC campus.

There is another gallery space nearby. It is located in the Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery. This space is often used to show art created by students. It's a great place to see new and upcoming artists!
