How to Pay for Your Bus Trip
The bus network uses the Opal ticketing system. This is a special smartcard that makes paying for your bus trip easy. You can also use Opal on trains in the area, but the fares might be different.
Opal bus fares are similar to those for Sydney's light rail. If you don't have an Opal card, you can buy a single trip ticket from the bus driver. However, these single trip tickets are usually more expensive than using an Opal card. They are only valid for the bus trip you buy them for.
Here are the Opal fares for reusable smartcards and single trip tickets:
Bus or light rail | 0–3 km | 3–8 km | 8 km+ |
---|---|---|---|
Adult cards | $2.10 | $3.50 | $4.50 |
Other cards | $1.05 | $1.75 | $2.25 |
Adult single trip | $2.60 | $4.20 | $5.40 |
Child/Youth single trip | $1.30 | $2.10 | $2.70 |
Please note that these fares can change. The card fares shown here are from 4 January 2015. Single trip fares are from 5 September 2016.
