Centro is a special part of Tijuana, a big city in Baja California, Mexico. Think of it like the downtown area or the heart of the city. It's the oldest and most important area for business and history in Tijuana.

Centro is where many important things happen. It's the historical center of Tijuana, and the City Hall is located here. Many popular places for visitors, like Avenida Revolución, are also in Centro. You can also find big business areas here. The Tijuana Cultural Center (called CECUT) and Plaza Río, which used to be the biggest shopping mall in the state, are both in Centro's Zona Río.

History of Centro

Centro has a long and interesting past. In the mid-1800s, this land was part of a large ranch. It belonged to a person named Don Santiago Argüello. He used the land for raising farm animals like cows.

Don Santiago Argüello passed away in 1862. But his family continued to live on the ranch. Over time, his children and grandchildren built their own homes there. This is how the area slowly grew into the busy downtown part of Tijuana we know today.
