A common mix-up
Sometimes, on older maps, Cerro Lípez was wrongly called "Nuevo Mundo." However, Nuevo Mundo is a completely different volcano. It is located hundreds of kilometers to the northeast. Nuevo Mundo is also about 500 meters shorter than Cerro Lípez. The mistake happened because people were confused about the actual height of Nuevo Mundo.
