Chadlia Saïda Farhat Essebsi (born August 1, 1936 – died September 15, 2019) was an important woman in Tunisia. She served as the First Lady of Tunisia from 2014 to 2019. This means she was the wife of the country's President, Beji Caid Essebsi. She was the fifth First Lady of Tunisia. She was also the second First Lady after the Tunisian Revolution.
Her Life Story
Chadlia Saïda Farhat was born on August 1, 1936. She married Beji Caid Essebsi on February 8, 1958. He was a lawyer who later became a politician. They had four children together. Their two daughters were named Amel and Salwa. Their two sons were named Mohamed Hafedh and Khélil.
When her husband became President on December 31, 2014, Chadlia Farhat Essebsi became the First Lady of Tunisia. The First Lady often supports the President. She also takes part in public events. She was more visible in her role than the First Lady before her. She was not keen on moving to the official Presidential Palace. This was because it was far from her family.
Her Passing
Chadlia Farhat Essebsi passed away on September 15, 2019. She was 83 years old. She died from a heart attack. Her passing happened less than two months after her husband, President Essebsi, also passed away. It was also on the same day as a national election in Tunisia.
