Chambersburg, Ohio facts for kids
Chambersburg is a small place in Columbiana County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Chambersburg
Chambersburg was first planned out in 1828. When a community is "platted," it means its streets and building lots are officially mapped out. For a while, it was also known as New Chambersburg or New Chambersburgh.
A post office opened there in 1846, using the name New Chambersburgh. The spelling changed to New Chambersburg in 1894. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1904.
