About Chandra Currelley-Young
Chandra Currelley-Young started her career as a singer. In the late 1980s, she was part of a music group called the SOS Band. She sang with them until 1992.
After leaving the band, Chandra decided to try acting. Because she had experience in theater, a famous director named Debbie Allen chose her. Chandra became the main singer in Debbie Allen's show called "Soul Possessed." This show first opened in Atlanta, Georgia.
Her Acting Roles
Chandra's acting career grew quickly. In 1995, she performed in a new version of the musical The Wiz. She played the part of Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West. Later, she was chosen for a play called Dinah Was. This play told the story of the singer Dinah Washington.
Chandra became very famous for her work with Tyler Perry. She has acted in many of his popular movies and plays. Some of her well-known roles include Shirley in Madea's Big Happy Family and Miss V in the TV show For Better or Worse. She also appeared in Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
Chandra continues to act and sing today. She is a regular on the TV show Bruh, where she plays Alice Watts.
