Chandra Currelley-Young, born on August 30, 1961, is a talented American actress and singer. She is well-known for her many roles in movies and plays created by the famous director and writer Tyler Perry. When she performs on stage, Chandra is famous for her special "Holy Shake." This is a shoulder shake she does while singing, and audiences always cheer for it!

Chandra's Journey in Music and Acting
Early Career in Music
Chandra Currelley-Young started her career in music. She was a member of a popular group called the SOS Band. She sang with them from the late 1980s until 1992. After that, Chandra decided to try something new. She wanted to focus on acting and theater.
Stepping Onto the Stage
Because Chandra had a strong background in theater, she was chosen for special roles. The famous dancer and director Debbie Allen picked her. Chandra became the main singer in Debbie Allen's show called "Soul Possessed." This show first opened in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1995, Chandra was asked to perform in a new version of the musical The Wiz. She played the part of Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West. Later, she was chosen for another play called Dinah Was. This play told the story of the singer Dinah Washington.
