Chang'an District facts for kids
Chang'an District is a part of Xi'an, a big city in Shaanxi province, China. It's located in the southern part of Xi'an. To the north, it shares borders with Yanta District and Xianyang Municipality. To the south, you'll find Shangluo Municipality and Ankang Municipality. Lantian County is to its east, and Hu County is to its west.
The land in Chang'an District isn't flat everywhere. The southeast part is higher, like hills, while the northwest part is lower. The district stretches about 55 kilometers (34 miles) from north to south and 52 kilometers (32 miles) from east to west. It covers a total area of about 1,588.53 square kilometers (613.33 square miles). In November 2010, over 1 million people lived there, with a population of 1,083,285.
Chang'an used to be called Chang'an County. But on June 2, 2002, its name was officially changed to Chang'an District. This change meant it became a more integrated part of the city of Xi'an.
