A Glimpse into History
Hu County has a very long history, going back thousands of years! Its story begins during the Xia dynasty (around 2100 BC to 1600 BC). Back then, this place was called Hushi Country. This name meant "Hu family's country," which is where the name "Hu" comes from.
Over time, the name changed a few times, eventually becoming just Hu Country. Later, during the Qin dynasty (221 BC to 206 BC), the Chinese character for "Hu" changed slightly. Also, the word "country" changed to "county," which is a smaller administrative area.
The name changed again in 1964, to the simpler Chinese character "户" that is used today. So, Hu County has a name that tells a long story of its past!
