Other towns close by include Elkland, which is about six miles south on Missouri Route 38. To the north-northwest, you'll find Buffalo, located about nine miles away.
The History of Charity
The community of Charity has a simple but interesting history. A post office was first opened here in 1884. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1956. The name "Charity" was given to the community by an early postmaster. He decided to name the place after his wife, whose name was Charity Sherrick.
