Charles Feake (born around 1716, died 1762) was an important English doctor. He was also a member of the Royal Society, a famous group that promotes science.

Charles Feake was a respected doctor in England during the 1700s. He was known for his medical work and for being part of important scientific groups.

Early Life and Education

Charles Feake was the son of Samuel Feake. His father was a governor in India, at a place called Fort William in West Bengal, from 1718 to 1723. Charles was born in Cossimbazar, which is in India.

He went to several schools as he grew up. He studied at Stoke Newington and then for three years at Newcome's School. Later, he attended Caius College, Cambridge, a famous university. He started there in 1732. He earned his first medical degree in 1738 and a higher medical degree in 1743.

A Leading Doctor

After finishing his studies, Charles Feake became a doctor at Guy's Hospital in London. He started working there in 1745. This was a big step, as he was one of only three doctors at the hospital at that time.

His career continued to grow. In 1745, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians. This is a very old and respected group for doctors. Then, in 1748, he joined the Royal Society. This society includes many of the world's leading scientists. In 1749, he gave a special speech called the Harveian Oration, which is a great honor for a doctor.

Charles Feake passed away on August 2, 1762.
