Charles French (born 21 October 1851 – died 27 October 1925) was an important politician from Ireland. He served as a Member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, helping to make laws for the country.
Who Was Charles French?
Charles French was born in 1851. His father was Charles French, 3rd Baron de Freyne. Charles was the oldest son, but he did not inherit his father's special title, called a "Baron." This title instead went to his younger brother, Arthur, in 1868. Charles French later married Constance Eleanor Chichester in 1880.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
Charles French became a politician. He was chosen to represent County Roscommon in the UK Parliament. This happened in a special election called a by-election on 24 June 1873. A by-election is held when a seat in Parliament becomes empty before a general election. Charles French kept his seat as a Member of Parliament until the general election in 1880.
