Charles Lambart, 3rd Earl of Cavan (born September 7, 1649 – died December 5, 1702), was an important Irish nobleman. He held the title of Earl of Cavan.

Who Was Charles Lambart?

Charles Lambart was the oldest son of Richard Lambart, 2nd Earl of Cavan. His mother was Rose Ware. Her father was a famous historian named Sir James Ware. Charles took over the title of Earl of Cavan in 1690. He became the Earl after his father, who had been unwell for a long time.

His Family Life

Charles Lambart married a woman named Castilina Gilbert. Her family was from Kilminchy in County Laois, Ireland. Castilina's brother, St Leger Gilbert, was a Member of Parliament for Maryborough.

Charles and Castilina had four sons together. Their sons were:

  • Charles, Lord Lambart (who died before his father)
  • Richard Lambart, 4th Earl of Cavan (who became the next Earl)
  • Oliver (who married Frances Stewart)
  • Henry (whose son later became the 6th Earl)

Where Was He Buried?

Charles Lambart passed away in December 1702. He was buried in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin. His wife, Castilina, lived to be very old and died much later, in 1742.
