Lieutenant General Charles Morgan was a high-ranking British Army officer. He was born in 1741 and passed away on March 21, 1818. He is best known for serving as the Commander-in-Chief, India. This was a very important leadership role for the British forces in India.

Military Career

Charles Morgan grew up in Caernarfon, a town in Wales. He was the youngest son of Nathaniel Morgan. For many years, he was a senior officer in the British Army's forces in Bengal, India.

He took on the role of Commander-in-Chief, India from 1797 to 1798. This was a challenging time because Zaman Shah Durrani, a ruler from Afghanistan, was seen as a threat to the northern parts of India. General Morgan helped to manage the British defenses during this period.

He died in London in 1818. You can find a monument dedicated to him at St John's Wood Church in London, which is close to Lord's Cricket Ground.
