Charles Cornelius Smith (born August 22, 1975) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was known for scoring many points during his career. In 2005, he won the Alphonso Ford Trophy for being the best scorer in the EuroLeague. He was also chosen as one of the best players in Europe that year.

Early Life and College Basketball
Charles Smith grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He played high school basketball at Dunbar High School. After high school, he went to the University of New Mexico. He was a really good player for the university's team, the Lobos. He was even named one of the best players in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) twice.
Professional Basketball Career
Charles Smith started his professional basketball journey in 1997. He was picked by the Miami Heat in the NBA draft. He played for several teams in the NBA, including the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, and Denver Nuggets.
Playing in Europe
Smith also became a big star in European basketball leagues. He played for teams in countries like Italy, Greece, Spain, and Turkey. He was known for being a player who could score a lot of points.
In 2005, while playing for an Italian team called Scavolini Pesaro, he won the very first Alphonso Ford Trophy. This award is given to the player who scores the most points in the EuroLeague season. The EuroLeague is one of the biggest basketball competitions in Europe.
Winning Championships
Charles Smith also helped his teams win important championships. In the 2006–07 season, he played for Real Madrid in Spain. He helped them win the EuroCup, which is another major European basketball tournament. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the EuroCup Finals that year!
Later, he moved to Turkey and played for Efes Pilsen. With Efes Pilsen, he won the Turkish League championship in 2009. He also won the Turkish Cup and the Turkish President's Cup in the same year. He was even named the MVP of the Turkish Cup.
Smith finished his professional career in 2011, after playing for Lottomatica Roma in Italy.
