Charles W. Elliott OBC RCA, also known as Charles Elliott Termosen (1943 – 2023), was a very talented artist. He was a skilled wood carver and graphic artist from the Tsartlip First Nation in Canada. His amazing artwork is celebrated for its beauty and cultural importance.

Charles Elliott was born in 1943 in Saanich, British Columbia. This is on Vancouver Island in Canada. He lived there his whole life. He started carving wood when he was just a child. He grew up to become a well-known artist.

Famous Carvings and Locations

Charles Elliott created many beautiful totem poles. These tall, carved poles tell stories and represent important symbols. You can find his totem poles in several places around Greater Victoria. For example, there are three at the Victoria International Airport. Another one is at the famous Butchart Gardens. The University of Victoria also has one of his totem poles.

His carvings are not just totem poles. He also created special interior decorations for the Victoria International Airport. He made a podium used at a big university event in 2013. The altar at St. Andrew's Cathedral (Victoria, British Columbia) in Victoria was also carved by him.

Special Artworks and Awards

Charles Elliott made the Queen's Baton for the 1994 Commonwealth Games held in Victoria. This baton is carried by runners before the games begin. He also carved a talking stick that was given to Nelson Mandela, a very important leader. The University of Victoria owns 30 of his art pieces. They are part of the university's permanent art collection.

In 2005, Charles Elliott received a special honor. He was given the Order of British Columbia. This award recognizes people who have done great things for the province. In 2013, he became a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. This shows how respected he was as an artist.
