Charlotte Frances Riley (born December 29, 1981) is a talented English actress. She is known for her many roles in films and TV shows. Some of her famous parts include Sarah Hurst in the movie Easy Virtue. She also played Catherine Earnshaw in the TV series Wuthering Heights.
Early Life and School
Charlotte Riley was born in Grindon, England. She grew up in County Durham. She went to Teesside High School from age 9 to 18. After high school, she studied at St Cuthbert's Society, Durham. She earned a degree in English and linguistics there. She also joined a comedy group and acted in plays. Later, she studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Charlotte Riley's Acting Career
In 2004, Charlotte won an award for a play she helped write. It was called Shaking Cecilia. She has acted in many different projects. In 2011, she played Anna in a radio show called Anna of the Five Towns.
She has also appeared in big movies. She was in Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Charlotte also played an MI6 agent named Jacqueline Marshall in London Has Fallen. This movie was a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen.
On TV, she played Arabella Strange in the mini-series Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. In 2018, she had a main role in the BBC drama Press. She also appeared in the BBC mini-series A Christmas Carol in 2019. In this show, she played Lottie and the Ghost of Christmas Present. More recently, she was in the Amazon Prime Video series The Peripheral.
Personal Life
Charlotte Riley met actor Tom Hardy in 2008. They were playing lovers in the TV series Wuthering Heights. They became good friends while working together. They started dating later, after filming the movie Warrior in 2009.
Tom Hardy asked Charlotte to marry him around 2010. They got married on July 4, 2014. Their wedding was a small ceremony with family and friends. Tom's son, Louis Thomas, was also there. Charlotte and Tom have two sons together. Their first son was born in October 2015. Their second son was born in December 2018.
