Charlotte Frances Riley, born on December 29, 1981, is a talented English actress. She is known for her roles in various films and television series. Some of her notable performances include playing Sarah Hurst in the 2008 film Easy Virtue and Catherine Earnshaw in the 2009 TV show Wuthering Heights.

Early Life and Education
Charlotte Riley grew up in Grindon, a place in County Durham, England. She went to Teesside High School from the age of nine until she was eighteen. After high school, she studied at St Cuthbert's Society, Durham, from 2000 to 2003. There, she earned a degree in English and Linguistics. During her time at university, she was also active in a comedy group called the Durham Revue and performed in plays and musicals. Later, from 2005 to 2007, she attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to further her acting skills.
Acting Career Highlights
Charlotte Riley has had a busy and exciting career in acting. In 2004, she won an award for a play she co-wrote called Shaking Cecilia. This showed her talent for writing as well as acting.
Film Roles
Riley has appeared in several movies. She was in Edge of Tomorrow, a science fiction film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. She also played an MI6 agent named Jacqueline Marshall in London Has Fallen, which is a sequel to the film Olympus Has Fallen. In 2015, she was part of the cast of In the Heart of the Sea. More recently, she appeared in the 2018 film Swimming with Men.
Television Appearances
On television, Charlotte Riley has taken on many different characters. She played Anna in a radio adaptation of Anna of the Five Towns for BBC Radio 4. She was also Arabella Strange in the mini-series Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. In 2018, she had a main role in the BBC drama Press. In 2019, she played Lottie, who was also the Ghost of Christmas Present, in the BBC mini-series A Christmas Carol, based on the famous story by Charles Dickens. In 2022, she appeared in the Amazon Prime Video series The Peripheral.
Personal Life
Charlotte Riley met actor Tom Hardy in 2008. They were playing characters who were in love, Cathy and Heathcliff, on the set of the TV show Wuthering Heights. They became good friends while working on that show and another one called The Take. Their relationship began after they filmed the movie Warrior in 2009. Tom Hardy proposed to Charlotte Riley around the summer of 2010. They got married in July 2014. They have two children together, born in October 2015 and December 2018.
