Chaya Arbel (born in 1921, passed away in 2007) was a famous Israeli composer. She was one of Israel's most well-known female classical composers. She even won the ACUM Prize for her amazing musical works.

Her Life and Music

Chaya Arbel started learning piano and composition in Germany. In 1936, she moved to what was then called British Mandate Palestine. This land later became Israel. There, she worked on a community farm called a kibbutz in a place called HaMa'apil.

For 25 years, Chaya focused on her life in the kibbutz. She later went back to studying composition with Professor Leon Schidlowsky. Chaya stayed a member of her kibbutz for the rest of her life. She won the ACUM Prize for her piece called Dialogue for Clarinet and Orchestra.

Chaya Arbel wrote many different types of music. Her works were performed by various groups of musicians. Here are some examples of her published music:

Music for Big Groups (Orchestra)

An orchestra is a very large group of musicians. It usually includes string, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Chaya wrote several pieces for orchestras:
