Cheryl Diane Glenn was a politician from the United States. She was born on May 27, 1951. She served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. About Cheryl Glenn
Cheryl Glenn was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to public schools there. She finished high school at Western High School in 1969. Later, she studied paralegal studies at the Community College of Baltimore County. She also studied labor relations at the George Meany Institute.
Before becoming a politician, Ms. Glenn worked in the labor movement. This means she worked to help people who are part of labor unions. She was a lobbyist for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters. A lobbyist tries to convince lawmakers to support certain ideas. She also served as the President of the City Union of Baltimore. She was married to Benjamin Glenn, who has passed away. She has five children and eight grandchildren. She also helps raise her granddaughter, Taylor Bishop.
Her Time as a Lawmaker
After many years working with labor unions, Cheryl Glenn was elected to the Maryland General Assembly. This is the main lawmaking body for the state of Maryland. She was one of three people chosen to represent the 45th district in east Baltimore. Even though it was her first time running for a state office, she won more votes than some people who were already in office.
Ms. Glenn was a member of the House of Delegates starting on January 10, 2007. She worked on different committees. Committees are small groups of lawmakers who focus on specific topics. She first served on the Environmental Matters Committee. This committee deals with issues like housing, property, and transportation. In 2014, she moved to the Economic Matters Committee. This committee handles topics related to the economy.
She was also the chair of the Baltimore City Delegation. This group represents Baltimore City's interests in the state government. She was a member of the Women Legislators of Maryland. She also used to be the chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. This group works on issues important to African American communities.
