Natural Boundaries
The community is surrounded by nature on its northern and eastern sides. Rock Creek, a stream that flows into the Potomac River, forms these boundaries. Another smaller stream, Coquelin Run, also runs through the area.
Chevy Chase Lake History
Back in 1892, Coquelin Run was dammed to create Chevy Chase Lake. This lake was part of a fun place called a "trolley park." A trolley park was like an amusement park that people could easily reach by trolley car. The lake was drained in the 1930s, but the neighborhood nearby still keeps the name "Chevy Chase Lake."
