Chi A. Ossé (born March 18, 1998) is an American politician and activist. He is a member of the New York City Council. This means he helps make important decisions for New York City. He represents the 36th district, which includes parts of Brooklyn, like Bedford–Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.

Early Life and Education
Chi Ossé grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His family has lived there for a long time. He has both Black and Chinese family roots.
His father was Reggie Ossé, also known as Combat Jack. He was a well-known hip hop journalist and lawyer. Chi Ossé was 19 when his father passed away in 2017.
Chi Ossé went to Friends Seminary and finished in 2016. He later attended Chapman University in California, but he did not finish his degree there.
Career Path to Politics
Before becoming a politician, Chi Ossé worked in the entertainment world for several years.
In May 2020, many people across the country were protesting for fairness and justice. These events, known as the George Floyd protests, inspired Chi Ossé to become an activist. He became a leader in the Black Lives Matter movement. He also helped start a group called Warriors in the Garden. This group worked to organize peaceful protests.
Running for City Council
On June 19, 2020, Chi Ossé announced he would run for a seat on the New York City Council. He wanted to represent the 36th district. He said that the protests made him realize he wanted to help change things in the city. He felt that city leaders needed to do more to improve policing.
Chi Ossé was the youngest person running for this position. He was supported by groups like the Working Families Party. He also got support from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Many news outlets were interested in his campaign because of his youth and unique style.
On election night, Chi Ossé received the most votes. After all the votes were counted, he won against his opponent, Henry Butler. His victory was a big surprise to many. This was because his opponents had more traditional political backgrounds. He easily won the final election in November. Chi Ossé became the youngest member ever to join the New York City Council.
Family Life
Chi Ossé's father was Reginald Ossé, a famous hip hop attorney and journalist. His mother owns a small business in Brooklyn called The BAKERY on Bergen. His grandfather was Teddy Vann, a music producer who won a Grammy Award.
Chi Ossé lives in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He practices Nichiren Buddhism.
