About Chic Littlewood

Chic Littlewood was born in London, England, in 1930. Before he became a star, he worked as a baker. He didn't use his talent for entertainment for many years.

Eventually, Chic started entering and winning talent shows. In 1964, the BBC (a big TV company in the UK) offered him an audition. But Chic had already decided to move to New Zealand. He came to Auckland in 1964 with his wife and two sons.

Starting His TV Career

When he first arrived in New Zealand, Chic continued working as a baker. But he still hoped to get into show business. He appeared on a talent show called Have A Shot on NZBC television. This helped him get other roles on TV.

In 1967, Chic got a guest spot on a show called The Late Show. People really liked him, so he became a regular on the show's next season. This was a big step for his career.

Children's TV Star

In 1975, Chic was asked to create a show for kids. This was for a new TV channel called South Pacific Television (SPTV). Chic created a new show called Now C Here. This show later changed its name to Chicaboom, and then to Chic Chat.

Chic Chat became a very popular daily afternoon show for children. Chic used his amazing mimicry skills to create many different characters. He played all of them himself! The show moved to TV One in 1980. It ran twice a week until 1983.

Chic won some important awards for his entertainment. He received the Feltex Award for New Zealand Entertainer of the Year in 1977. In 1979, he won the Benny Award from the Variety Artists Club of New Zealand. These awards showed how much people appreciated his talent.

Acting Roles

After Chic Chat ended, Chic Littlewood started doing more serious acting. In 1975, he had a role in a TV series called The Immigrants.

From 1993 to 1996, he was a regular on the popular New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. He played the character Laurie Brasch. He also had smaller roles in other TV series like Mercy Peak.

Chic also appeared in some movies. In 2005, he had a small role as a security guard in Peter Jackson's movie King Kong. In 2007, he played Isaac Bulosan in the horror film 30 Days of Night. This was his last film role.
