The Amazing Cable Car Ride
One of the coolest things at Panachi is its aerial tramway, also called a cable car. This long cable car system takes you right across the huge Chicamocha Canyon. It's like flying over the canyon! The park also has places to park, viewing spots, and many walking trails.
The cable car system is about 6.3 kilometers long. This makes it one of the longest of its kind in the world. It travels from a station called "Mesa de los Santos" all the way to Panachi. There are three stops along the way. The first is inside the park, the middle one is near the river, and the last is in "Vereda el Tabacal." The cable car opened in January 2009 and quickly became a favorite attraction.
Fun Activities and Sights
Besides the stunning views from the cable car, Panachi offers many other activities. You can visit the Museo Guane to learn about local culture. There's also the Plaza de las Costumbres and the Salón de Exposiciones. For more active fun, you can enjoy a skating rink or a karts circuit.
The park also has animals like ostriches and goats. Don't miss the monument dedicated to Santanderean culture. There's also a 360-degree viewing deck at the highest point of the canyon. This spot gives you incredible panoramic views. The park is designed for families, with areas showing typical buildings from the Santander region. You can also try paragliding, kayaking, and rafting here.
