Chickering Hall (Boston, 1883) facts for kids
Chickering Hall was a famous concert hall in Boston, Massachusetts. It opened in 1883. It was on the second floor of the Chickering and Sons piano store. This store was on Tremont Street. Many people called this area "Piano Row." This was because many piano shops were there.
The building was designed by architects Bradlee, Winslow & Wetherell. Mr. E.P. Treadwell decorated the inside. The hall was one of the first places to use Edison electric lights. By 1895, Chickering Hall was known as a favorite spot for fancy musical shows. It was also a main meeting place for musicians.
