Chihuahua is a lovely beach resort in Uruguay. It's located in the Maldonado Department, which is like a state or region in Uruguay. People often visit Chihuahua for its beautiful beaches and relaxing atmosphere.
Where is Chihuahua?
Chihuahua is right on the coast of the Río de la Plata. This is a very wide river that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The resort is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) east of another resort called Punta Negra.
To its east, you'll find Punta Ballena. To its west is Ocean Park. A small stream, the Arroyo del Portero, separates Chihuahua from Ocean Park. This stream brings water from a lake called Laguna del Sauce into the Río de la Plata.
Who Lives There?
Not many people live in Chihuahua all year round. In 2011, only 37 people lived there permanently. However, there were 79 houses, which means many homes are likely used for vacations.
Over the years, Chihuahua has slowly grown. Back in 1975, no one lived there permanently, and there were only 5 houses. By 1996, 7 people lived there. The number of homes has also increased a lot, showing it's becoming a more popular place for people to visit or have a second home.
