Robert Frazier (born May 15, 1964), known as Chill Rob G, is an American rapper. He comes from Jersey City, New Jersey.

Chill Rob G's Music Journey

Chill Rob G started his music journey with a group called the Flavor Unit. This group included other talented artists like Queen Latifah and The 45 King.

Starting with Wild Pitch Records

In 1987, he signed with Wild Pitch Records. He released his first album, Ride the Rhythm, with them. This album had a mix of strong, powerful songs and more relaxed, chatty ones. The Source magazine even called it one of the 100 Greatest Rap Albums!

The Story of "The Power"

In 1989, Chill Rob G had a song called "The Power." A German pop-dance group named Snap! used parts of his song without permission. This happened when German producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti created a remix.

When the song became popular in Europe, the record company wanted to release it. Instead of using Chill Rob G's original voice, the producers hired another rapper, Durron Butler (also known as Turbo B), to record new vocals. This new version became the famous hit song by Snap!.

Taking a Break from Music

After this, Chill Rob G mostly disappeared from the hip hop scene for about ten years. He later shared that personal stress and problems with his record label made him step away. This happened right when his career was at its peak.

New Albums and Collaborations

He later recorded a second album called Black Gold. This album was with an independent label, Echo International. For a long time, the album wasn't officially released. But it finally became available on iTunes in 2008.

In 1996, a British artist named Tricky covered Chill Rob G's song "Bad Dreams." This cover appeared on Tricky's album Pre-Millennium Tension.

Since 2002, Chill Rob G has appeared on other artists' albums. He worked with DSP and recorded a song with R.A. the Rugged Man. He has also collaborated with Skamadix, Dayta120, and the 45 King. He is still working on new music projects.
