Chiraprapha (Thai: จิรประภา) was a powerful queen who ruled the Kingdom of Lan Na. She was the 12th ruler of this ancient kingdom. A "queen regnant" means she ruled the kingdom herself, not just as a king's wife.

Chiraprapha was also the grandmother of King Setthathirath. He later became a famous king of Lan Xang, another important kingdom.

Who Was Queen Chiraprapha?

Chiraprapha was born in 1499 in Chiang Mai Town. This city was the capital of the Lan Na Kingdom. Her parents were King Phra Chao Setarat and Queen Phra Nang Pathumkhappha. They ruled a place called Setanakhon.
