Chondra Echert is an American writer and musician. She is well-known for co-writing comic book series like Key of Z, Kill Audio, and Translucid.

Early Life
Chondra Marie Echert was born on April 22, 1983, in Clearwater, Florida. She went to Eckerd College and earned a degree in Psychology.
Her Career as a Writer
After college, Chondra Echert moved to New York. There, she started working as an advertising copywriter. Soon after, she began a career in comic books.
Starting in Comics
A part of her first story, Kill Audio, was accepted into a comic book collection called Popgun 2. She created and co-wrote Kill Audio with Claudio Sanchez. Sheldon Vella drew the pictures for the story. Kill Audio is a funny but dark story about a troll trying to understand why he can't die. It was first shown in Popgun 2 and later became a mini-series published by BOOM! Studios. You can now find it as a hardcover book.
Working on Key of Z
In April 2011, Echert started working on Key of Z. This was a modern zombie story that takes place in New York City. It was a four-part mini-series. This was her second time working with her writing partner and husband, Claudio Sanchez. The first issue came out in October 2011 through BOOM! Studios. Aaron Kuder did the artwork, and Nathan Fox created the cover art. Key of Z was first shown at New York Comic Con in 2011. It was later put together into a paperback book in February 2012.
Other Creative Works
Chondra Echert has also written novellas. These include Vaxis I: The Unheavenly Creatures and Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind. These books were released along with albums from the band Coheed and Cambria. Today, Echert is a Creative Co-Director at Evil Ink Comics. This is an independent company that publishes comic books. She also co-writes The Amory Wars, a science fiction comic series that has been a New York Times Bestseller.
She is also a co-host of "Band Wives." This is a weekly podcast that started in July 2022. She hosts it with author Misha Lazzara.
Media Appearances
Chondra Echert has appeared in music videos for the band Coheed and Cambria. She was the main love interest in the video for "A Favor House Atlantic." She also appeared in "The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut." Claudio Sanchez directed this video.
Echert has also sung backing vocals for Coheed and Cambria. She sang on the song "Gravemakers and Gunslingers." She also sang on "Mothers of Men" from the album The Afterman: Ascension. She voiced a character called All Mother on the opening track "The Hollow" and in other parts of the album.
She also sang backing vocals on the Let's Start a Band EP with Anthony Green.
In the music video for "A Disappearing Act" by Coheed and Cambria, Echert played the main villain, Candelaria.
Music Contributions
A special vinyl record was given as a bonus for buying a subscription to the Kill Audio series. This record had two songs from Claudio Sanchez's side project, The Prize Fighter Inferno. One song, "Erizo Schultz," was co-written and performed by Echert and Sanchez. Echert also sang backing vocals on the song "Half Measures" by The Prize Fighter Inferno.
Personal Life
In October 2009, Chondra Echert married Claudio Sanchez. He is the lead singer of the progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria. On June 8, 2014, they welcomed their first child, Atlas Hendrix Sanchez.
