About Chris Cormier
Chris Cormier grew up in Palm Springs, California. When he was in high school, he was a talented wrestler. In 1984, he placed 4th in a state wrestling championship for Palm Springs High School.
Chris started his professional bodybuilding career and quickly became well-known. His first time competing in the famous Mr. Olympia contest was in 1994, where he finished 6th. In the same year, he also took part in the Arnold Classic and the Ironman Pro Invitational, placing 4th and 2nd. He competed in many major shows, including the Night of Champions (now called the New York Pro). Chris was featured in many fitness magazines, and even appeared on the cover of Muscular Development magazine.
In 2006, Chris had a serious injury to his spine that was related to bodybuilding. This injury, and another one to his triceps muscle, meant he had to stop competing. After his recovery, he decided to share his knowledge with other athletes. He has worked with many people around the world, teaching them what he learned from over 30 years in the sport. Chris competed in more than 72 professional IFBB contests. He won 12 of these competitions and was the runner-up a record six times at the important Arnold Classic from 2000 to 2005.
In 2019, a documentary film about Chris's life and career, called Chris Cormier: I Am the Real Deal, was released.
