Christopher John Hazzard, born on August 20, 1984, is a politician from Sinn Féin. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for South Down since 2017. Before this, he served as the Minister for Infrastructure from 2016 to 2017. He was also a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for South Down from 2012 to 2017.

About Chris Hazzard
Early Life and Education
Chris Hazzard was born in Drumaness, County Down, in 1984. He is the oldest of four children. He went to Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock. After that, he studied at Queen's University Belfast.
Political Journey and Roles
Before becoming an elected official, Chris Hazzard worked for the Sinn Féin party. In April 2012, his party chose him to become a Member (MLA). He represented the South Down area in the Northern Ireland Assembly. He took over from Willie Clarke, another Sinn Féin member. Willie Clarke had decided to focus on his local council work.
From May 2016 to January 2017, Hazzard was the Minister for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland. This role involved looking after things like roads and public transport. He also served on the Education Committee from 2012 to 2016. Additionally, he was part of the Public Accounts Committee from 2013 to 2014.
In the general election held on June 8, 2017, Chris Hazzard was elected as the MP for South Down. He won against Margaret Ritchie, who was the MP for the SDLP. This was the first time Sinn Féin had won this seat.
Personal Life and Interests
Chris Hazzard is involved with the Gaelic Athletic Association. He is also working on his PhD at Queen's University Belfast. When he was first chosen as an MLA, he was the youngest person to hold that position. He is married to Lisa, and they have a daughter named Eva, who was born in August 2015.
