A Big Moment in the Heineken Cup
Chris had a very special moment in 2012 during the Heineken Cup. This is a big European rugby competition. In the quarter-final game against a strong team called Toulouse, Edinburgh was losing at half-time. Chris came off the bench to help his team. With his help, Edinburgh made an amazing comeback and won the game 19-14! This was a huge victory. It was the first time Edinburgh Rugby had ever reached the semi-finals of a European cup.
Facing Challenges and Moving On
After this exciting win, Chris faced a tough challenge. He got a shoulder injury that needed three operations. This injury kept him from playing for about a year.
When a new coach, Alan Solomons, joined Edinburgh, Chris was still recovering. Also, some talented young Scottish players, Sean Kennedy and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, started playing well. Because of these reasons, Chris was released from his contract at the end of the 2013-2014 season. He never got to play under the new coach.
