Chris Lester's Club Career
Chris Lester started his football journey in the youth academy at Bolton Wanderers. He joined the club when he was under 14 years old. He played well for the Under-18 and Under-21 teams. Because of his good performance, he signed his first professional contract with the club.
Early Days and Loans
Lester first joined the main Bolton Wanderers team as a substitute. This was during an FA Cup match against Sunderland. He was also a substitute in a league game against Middlesbrough.
He didn't get many chances to play for the first team at Bolton. So, in 2013, he went on loan to Chester for one month. Another teammate, Conor Wilkinson, also joined Chester on loan at the same time. Lester was even nominated for a "Rising Star" award in September 2013.
Making His Debut
On 22 April 2014, Chris Lester played his first game for Bolton's senior team. He came on as a substitute in the 77th minute. This match was against Leicester City.
In March 2015, Lester had a trial with Hartlepool United. He even scored a goal in his first game for their reserve team.
On 15 May 2015, Bolton Wanderers decided to release Chris Lester. He was one of 13 players who left the club that day. After leaving Bolton, he played for other clubs like Warrington Town, City of Liverpool, and Warrington Rylands.
Playing for His Country
In May 2013, Chris Lester was called to play for the Northern Ireland Under-21 team. He was able to play for them because his grandfather was from Northern Ireland.
Lester made his debut for the Northern Ireland U21 team on 30 May 2013. They played against Cyprus U21 and lost the game 3-0.
