Chris Llewellyn's Club Career

Playing for Norwich City

Chris Llewellyn started his career in the Norwich City youth team. He joined the main team in the 1997–1998 season. He played 16 games and scored 4 goals that season. After an injury in the 2002–03 season, he went on loan to Bristol Rovers. Norwich City released him in June 2003.

During his six years at Norwich, fans loved him. They even called him 'The New Giggs' because he was such a promising player.

Joining Wrexham

Llewellyn signed with Wrexham. He had a great 2003–04 season, which led to him being called back to the Welsh national team. He helped Wrexham win the Football League Trophy in 2005.

Time at Hartlepool United

Later, Chris joined Hartlepool United. He stayed there for only one season. He scored one goal for Hartlepool in an FA Cup match against Tamworth. He then returned to Wrexham on 29 June 2006.

Returning to Wrexham

In the last game of the 2006–2007 season, Wrexham needed to avoid losing to Boston United. This was to stay in Football League Two. Wrexham was losing 1–0, but then Chris Llewellyn scored a goal to make it 2–1. Wrexham eventually won 3–1 and stayed in the league. He left Wrexham in May 2008 after the team was moved down to the Football Conference.

Moving to Grimsby Town

In July 2008, Chris joined Grimsby Town on a two-year contract. He played his first league game in a 0–0 draw against Rochdale. He played 32 games for Grimsby in total.

Playing for Neath

Grimsby released Llewellyn at the end of the 2008–09 season. He then joined the Welsh Premier League team Neath Athletic. He scored five goals in his first five games. His manager, Andrew Dyer, called him "the best striker in the league." However, he only scored four more goals for the rest of that season.

Joining Llanelli

In June 2010, he left Neath and signed with Llanelli. Llewellyn scored a goal in the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League against FK Tauras Tauragė.

He went on loan to Aberystwyth Town in January 2012. He left Llanelli in June 2012.

Time at West End

In June 2012, Llewellyn became a player-assistant manager at Welsh Football League team West End. He worked alongside manager Anthony Wright.

In December 2012, Chris Llewellyn started working as a full-time youth coach for Swansea City. In February 2014, he became the manager of the Swansea City Under 21s team.

In 2015, his Under-21s team won the 2014–15 Professional U21 Development League 2. This was a big achievement. It was the first time a Swansea City Academy team won an English national development trophy.

Before the 2015–16 season, Llewellyn took charge of the Under-18s team with Eric Ramsay. On 12 August 2021, Swansea City Ladies appointed Chris Llewellyn as their head coach. However, he left the role in less than a month.

International Career

Chris Llewellyn played for the Welsh B team and the under-21 team. He made his first full international appearance for Wales against Malta in 1998.

He was called back to the Welsh team in May 2004. He came on as a substitute to earn his third cap against Norway. Llewellyn scored his first international goal for Wales against Liechtenstein in November 2006. His former Norwich City teammate, Craig Bellamy, also scored in that game.
