Chris Moise's Political Journey
Chris Moise has been involved in politics for many years. He has run for different political offices.
Early Elections
He first ran as a candidate for the Ontario New Democratic Party. This was in the 1999 Ontario general election for the area of Oak Ridges. He also ran in the 2003 Ontario general election for Brampton West—Mississauga. Later, he ran as a federal New Democratic Party candidate. This was for Brampton West in the 2004 Canadian federal election.
Serving on the School Board
Moise also worked to serve his community in education. He ran for election to the Toronto District School Board in the 2014 Toronto municipal election. He did not win that election. However, after the person who won passed away in 2016, Moise won a special election to fill the spot.
In the 2018 Toronto municipal election, he first planned to run for city council. But the government changed the city's ward boundaries. This meant the city council would have fewer members. Because of these changes, he decided to run for the school board again. He won re-election to the school board.
City Council Work
In April 2025, Chris Moise brought up an idea to the City Council. This idea was about making it harder for non-profit groups to get temporary permits for special events. The goal was to help manage large gatherings in the city.
This idea caused a lot of discussion among people who organize music events in Toronto. Many people signed a petition against the idea. Chris Moise listened to the community's feedback. He decided to withdraw his idea on April 23, 2025.
