Christian Dotremont (born December 12, 1922 – died August 20, 1979) was a Belgian artist. He was known as both a painter and a poet. Christian Dotremont was born in Tervuren, Belgium.
He was a very important person in the art world. He helped start a group called the Revolutionary Surrealist Group in 1946. He also helped create another famous art group called COBRA. He worked with a Danish artist named Asger Jorn to form COBRA. Later in his life, he became famous for his unique artworks. These were paintings that also included words. He called them Peinture mots (which means "painted words") or logograms.
Christian Dotremont passed away in Buizingen, Belgium, in 1979. He died from a serious illness.
