From January to March 2025, he was the acting leader of the People's Party. Before that, he was the party's general secretary from September 2022 to January 2025.
On 5 January 2025, Stocker became the acting leader of the People's Party. This happened after the previous Chancellor, Karl Nehammer, stepped down. After some talks, the People's Party, the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ), and NEOS agreed to form a new government. Christian Stocker was chosen to lead this government as Chancellor.
Early Life and Education
Christian Stocker was born and grew up in Wiener Neustadt, a city in Austria. His father, Franz Stocker, was also a politician for the ÖVP.
