A River's Tale: Christmas and the Mississippi River
Long ago, Christmas was right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River. This part of the river was even called the "Beulah Bend." Imagine living right next to one of the world's most famous rivers!
However, the river's path changed. In 1863, people artificially changed the course of the Mississippi River. This means they dug new channels or blocked old ones to make the river flow differently. Because of this change, the old "Beulah Bend" became a separate body of water. Today, this old bend is known as Lake Beulah. So, Christmas is no longer directly on the main Mississippi River.
