Christopher Dominic Ahearne (1886 – 1964) was an important government official. He was also known as C D Ahearne. He worked as a colonial administrator, which means he helped manage countries that were under British rule.
In 1910, he started working for the Straits Settlement Government. Later, in 1936, he became the Federal Secretary of the Federated Malay States (FMS).

Christopher Ahearne's Career
Starting in Government Service
Christopher Ahearne began his career in 1910. He joined the Straits Settlement Government as a "cadet." This was a training role for future leaders. His first job was in the Indian Immigrant Department in Penang.
He quickly took on more responsibilities. In 1911, he became the acting District Officer for Balik Pulau. By 1916, he was officially the District Officer there. He also held several temporary roles. These included Assistant Superintendent of Immigrant and Assistant Controller of Labour. He worked in places like Klang, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang.
In 1919, he was an acting Assistant Adviser in Batu Pahat, Johore. By 1923, he worked as a Second Magistrate in Singapore. He also served as Deputy Controller of Labour in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Helping Indian Immigrants
In 1925, Ahearne was part of a special committee. This committee focused on Indian immigration. He helped with projects like the Avadi Water Supply and Drainage. He also traveled to Assam to study how workers lived in British India. This showed his dedication to improving conditions.
Important Roles in the 1930s
By 1930, Ahearne became the Controller of Labour for Malaya. This was a very important job. The next year, he led a group from the Straits Settlements. They attended an International Shipping Conference in Simla.
During the economic downturn, he led a committee. This group helped the Straits Settlements save money. In 1933, he went to New Delhi. He led a Malayan team to talk about immigration with the Indian Government.
In 1936, he was given a new, big role. He became the first Federal Secretary of the Federated Malay States. He held this position until 1939. This role was part of a new plan to give more power to local areas.
Awards and Honours
In 1939, Christopher Ahearne received a special award. He was made a Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG). This honour recognized his excellent service.
