Growing Up and Learning Music
Christopher Sainsbury was born in 1963 on the Central Coast, New South Wales. When he was young, in the 1960s and 1970s, he joined many local music groups. These early experiences became very important for his later music.
In 1984, Christopher studied how to compose music with Richard Mills. Richard Mills is a famous Australian conductor and composer.
Christopher went to the Northern Rivers College of Advanced Education. This school is now called Southern Cross University. He earned a special award there in 1986. In 1990, he began teaching music at the Eora College. He was the Head of Arts and Media there until 2015. Since then, Christopher has been teaching at the ANU School of Music.
